Sun Ra Jazz in Silhouette T Shirt
Availability: In stock
Throughout their long and illustrious musical journey Sun Ra and his Arkestra were well-known for spending the tedious hours of their bus trips between gigs with a set of pens or paints and a box of plain white album jackets. They jackets didn't remain white for long - doodles, drawings and sketches by the musicians at once became genuine cover art for their LPs, thus creating a unique colletcors item, and doing away with expensive printed jackets and their designers.
It's possible that the artwork for the 1959 album 'Jazz in Silhouette' was borne from such bus journey - and then again it may not. What is for sure is that it's a magnificent piece of art, just black, white and orange used to make up the highly contrasted abstract. A perfect fit for a Sun Ra album - and a T shirt!
